My artistic studies began at Saint-Luc Brussels in the middle of my secondary school years. I continued my higher studies in Graphic Design there.
I began my career in an agency in 1994. First within an agency in the development of interactive kiosks and multimedia presentations.
In 1996 I joined the Qwentès agency (formerly Empirica+ and now Kantor) where I worked mainly on institutional files for the European Commission. I held the position of head of the graphics unit there for 7 years.
Since the end of 2003 I have worked for the Concerto company as artistic director. The projects are diverse and mainly focused on the B-to-B market. 17 years later my portfolio of skills has expanded, ranging from consumer promotional projects to digital media and signage concepts. An experience that allowed me to evolve in different fields. A profession rich in discoveries which requires constant attention to all the new developments (concepts, supports, etc.).
I master photography: shooting, image editing and editing (Photoshop), technical drawing (Illustrator), layout and production (InDesign). At the same time, I am embarking on more personal design projects. An area that is taking up more and more space in my concerns with the ambition to develop rational and pragmatic projects. Go against waste by favoring a sustainable vision of consumer products.
My graphic approach is like design: going to the essentials. Make content easily readable and understandable. Be educational.
Knowing how to develop a new identity as well as being able to assimilate and follow an existing guideline. It is above all a job of listening. Being able to ask the right questions. Summarize the request and apply it as best as possible. Be innovative. Advise, convince while remaining objective.
Working in a studio, surrounded by different skills, I focus mainly on creation. But it is not uncommon for me to have to manage a file from creation to production or distribution on a digital medium (internet, tablet or smartphone).
Photography complements my training as a graphic designer. It is practical to be able to illustrate the content laid out yourself. It is therefore not uncommon to have to meet clients, or other players in the field, in order to find the necessary visuals depending on the subject but also the requirements of the layout. These are above all ambient photographs, sometimes “posed” portraits but always with the means at hand: a Canon D5 and sometimes a simple portable reflector. Knowing how to seize the opportunities of the places, improvise on the choice of decorations. Discuss with your models who are not always used to the objectives.
I have a fascination with design and interior architecture. Like design, graphics allowed me to develop a certain vision on space management. As with the choice of paper for printing a brochure, design also requires this sensitivity to the choice of materials, its aesthetics and its touch.
I only began to realize this passion during the renovation of an old typographic workshop into a loft. Contact with architects, but also trades such as carpenters or ironworkers. I then designed my own furniture that I wanted to be in harmony with this industrial space.
Then came other outdoor furniture projects such as the Medusea project. A project that aims to be versatile. The notion of sustainability has become my leitmotif. More recently I worked on the Kitcube project. A modular wooden construction serving as a “universal” base for a wide range of uses. This project was also selected by MAD to present it at the Milan Furniture Design Fair in April 2019. It was presented there in the form of a full-size prototype which received a very good reception from the general public. like professionals.
